"Desiderata," the famous poem by Max Ehrmann, was a mainstay in my childhood home. The poem is filled with a sea of quotables, but my most favorite line is "Be yourself." I grew up believing people should aspire to experience all of the good things life has to offer even in the face of defeat. Staying down long in the midst of a storm should never be an option. I believed that truth then and it still resonates with me.
While experiencing this gift called life I've been fortunate enough to have an incredible career as an award-winning television news journalist, trekked across captivating lands, and met some of the most fascinating people along the way. However, I am not defined by all I've accomplished in life, but by the lives I've impacted during the journey. And, what an incredible journey it has been!
